Services

The Circulation Services are a section consisting of the activities around a lending of library books and other materials to the users of the library. The circulation section of NMUC Library is located at the level 11. This section provides a printing, lending services and facilities for a return of loan items, a renewal of materials and overdue charges for late returning to is all handled at the circulation desk. Some other issues handled by a circulation counter or a desk include the registration of users.

All students and staff have to fill up the registration form at the Circulation Counter.

  • Fines for overdue books is RM5 per day
  • Lost and damaged items is the book’s price plus RM20 for processing fee
Renewal

Renewal of books already borrowed is possible if the item is not reserved or recalled by another user. An item can only be renewed twice. Renewal can be done in person at a Circulation Counter or a patron may renew by:

  • Phone – Users can call the library Circulation Counter at 07 2182094 anytime between library opening hours
  • Email – send email to library@nmuc.edu.my with the item details to be renewed
Reservation

Library users can reserve an item that is on loan by another user. Once returned, the item on hold will be kept at the counter for 3 days, after which it will be given to the next person on the list or returned to the shelf

Reminder Notice

A reminder notice will be sent to users by an e-mail 7 days before the due date to remind. If users fail to return the library materials, a library will send the fines for an overdue notice.

INTERLIBRARY

LOAN

Interlibrary loan is the process by which a library requests material from another library. It helps users to obtain material not available in the user’s local library to meet the educational and developmental needs of NMUC staff and students. This is done through collaborations with other local academic institutions.

This service allows users to borrow reference resources that are unavailable at NMUC Library but can be obtained from other academic libraries in Malaysia. Apart from books, users also can obtain journal articles. The loan period is subject to the rules imposed by the supplying a library. Users can fill in an interlibrary loan form available at the circulation counter.
